GOAL $550 million
UW Medicine exists for one reason: to improve the health of the public. For everyone, everywhere. We are creating a road map to tackle the world’s most pressing health threats.
The UW Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation is the world’s largest resource for studying health disparities and the global burden of disease, accelerating our understanding of where interventions are needed most. And the Department of Global Health, a collaboration with the UW School of Public Health, brings together colleagues from more than 440 projects in 137 countries to ensure that health is a human right.
Investment is required to make the world a better, healthier place. The movement starts with UW Medicine.
The GBD is IHME’s annual report on the world’s health, allowing us to understand and address the impact of diseases, injuries and health risks.

The Department of Global Health develops, tests and implements innovative approaches to prevent and treat chronic illnesses in low-resource communities around the world. We also train future leaders to reduce the burdens suffered by millions facing chronic illness.
The Department of Global Health works to reduce the impact of environmental changes on human health, to develop approaches to identify and respond to emerging epidemics, and to train future clinicians and researchers to lead the way in both these efforts.
