Researchers at UW Medicine have analyzed traces of ancient evolutionary changes in proteins to help reveal the 3-D structure of hundreds of proteins. David Baker, Ph.D., UW professor in the Department of Biochemistry and director of the UW Institute for Protein Design, and his team published a new paper on this topic in Science. Curious to know more about how protein design works? Read about Dr. Baker’s work and its similarities to origami in an article in The Atlantic, titled, “Decoding the Origami That Drives All Life” and in the PBS Nova program about the use of origami in science and technology.
